ApoB is the protein found on all atherogenic lipoproteins—like LDL, VLDL, IDL, and Lp(a). Each of these particles carries one ApoB, so ApoB = the total number of “bad” cholesterol particles. It’s more precise than just measuring LDL cholesterol, especially if your LDL looks "normal" but particle count is high. Elevated ApoB means more cholesterol-carrying particles capable of penetrating artery walls and forming plaque.
