Trig/HDL Ratio
The triglyceride-to-HDL cholesterol ratio is a powerful marker of metabolic and cardiovascular health. It’s calculated by dividing triglycerides by HDL cholesterol. A lower ratio generally indicates healthier insulin sensitivity and lipid metabolism, while a higher ratio suggests insulin resistance, poor lipid handling, and elevated risk for cardiovascular disease. Because it integrates both triglyceride levels and protective HDL, this ratio is considered more predictive of heart and metabolic risk than either number alone.
