Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT)

GGT is an enzyme involved in glutathione metabolism and is highly sensitive to liver stress, toxin exposure, and oxidative damage. It rises early when the liver is under pressure—from alcohol, medications, environmental toxins, or chronic inflammation. GGT is one of the best early warning markers for detox overload, and it often elevates before ALT or AST. When paired with ferritin, it can also reflect oxidative stress burden and long-term disease risk.
